School Counselor
Hello! My name is Isabelle Querques but you can call me Mrs. Q. I am the elementary school counselor at Shaler Academy and Bergen Boulevard. I have been a school counselor for two years now and I have to say that I have the best job ever.
I earned my B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Montclair State University and my M.Ed. in School Counseling from Liberty University. My approach with my students is person-centered, where I focus on creating a safe, welcoming and positive reinforcement space. My goal is for students to want to come to me so I could guide them in making their own choices. I respect each of my students deeply and encourage them to express themselves freely and take chances.
What I love most about being a school counselor are the relationships I build with my students. I love how they get so excited to spend time with me, we laugh together, we have handshakes, and so much more. Additionally, it is rewarding to experience first hand their social-emotional learning growth which is so important for their overall wellbeing.
When I am not in school, you will find me spending time with my family or listening to a podcast. I enjoy visiting new places, discovering the best coffee shops in town, watching football, and attempting to bake sourdough breads.
