Overview

Shaler Academy is home to neighboring towns and Ridgefield’s three-year-old to eight-year-old children. We have  special education classes ranging from pre-kindergarten to second grade, two pre-kindergarten classes, and five kindergarten classes. 

In addition to reading, writing, math, science and social studies, our students take music, technology, physical education/health, Spanish and art. We infuse technology into our lessons – each classroom is equipped with a Smart Board or Promethean Board and Chromebooks. 

We work on academics as well as social development building the foundation to make our children well-rounded. As we all know, everything I need to know I learned in Kindergarten!

Our school values differences. Maya Angelou said, “We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.” Each of us is important and working together we create a better world just like the threads in the beautiful cloth.
